Wedding Photography FAQ's

Please contact me (Jennifer) with your wedding date and location (or county and state if exact location is not known), and I will email you a link with pricing for your area.  My phone number is 315-244-5220 or email McCluskey.Photography@gmail.com .  I always enjoy talking more with you about your wedding.  I offer free consultations either over the phone or in-person to discuss more details about your wedding photography.  Reserving your date requires a $250 deposit and contract.   I can email a contract to you if you are unable to meet in person.

For most local weddings, a second assistant photographer for the ceremony is included in the price.   I have a couple of great assistants who end up with awesome images. My assistants help me do a great job at your wedding.  For travel weddings, an assistant is not included in the price.  Let me know if you are interested in hiring an assistant and we can discuss options.

I’ve been a professional photographer since January 2009, and I’ve had a blast!  What a wonderful journey it’s been, meeting all sorts of great couples and families.

That depends on how long you need me there for. 6 hours is usually my minimum except for special circumstances. You are welcome to add more than six hours, and you also have an option to choose all-day coverage.

I usually take a couple of images of each scene, just in case someone blinks or something similar, and then edit out any that don’t meet my high standards. I usually deliver to couples approximately 100 images per shooting hour, however there may be more or fewer depending on the activity level of the wedding.

My zombie will photograph the wedding. No, really even if I am sick I will be there at your wedding. If something really drastic happens to me or a member of my immediate family, like serious life and death level stuff, I will get another photographer for your event. (I even have a list in the “what to do if I croak” drawer along with my will). Over the last few years I have developed great relationships with some of the other photographic community here, and I have several who I would trust with your wedding. If for some reason this does not work and I can’t find another photographer, I will refund your money.

Actually, no one ever asks this, but it does happen occasionally so I think it’s something you should know the answer to. If you cancel the wedding, I will give you a credit toward any money you’ve paid that can be used toward your wedding in the future or any other photography. I will only give refunds if I am able to book another wedding on your date.

All of my wedding packages include high-resolution digital images with a printing release.  I try to post a few highlights of the wedding on my Facebook page within 1-2 weeks of the wedding, since I know it’s hard to wait!  Since I carefully edit every photograph that I will give to you, it takes a few weeks for me to go through all of them.  Images are usually available on a password-protected web gallery and are mailed to the couple around 6-8 weeks after the wedding.  Prints are usually mailed out 2-3 weeks after you choose your images, Canvas and other wall art take 3-4 weeks, albums take between 6-8 weeks depending on which type of album design you choose.

I have found that all of my couples enjoy the flexibility of being able to design their own package, so all of my wedding prices start at a base rate depending on how many hours you need.  From there, couples are able to add on prints, wall art, or albums.  All of my wedding packages include high-resolution digital images and a printing release. Please contact me (Jennifer at 315-244-5220, mccluskey.photography@gmail.com, or Facebook message) with your wedding date and location (or county and state if exact location is not known), and I will email you a link with pricing for your area.

Family Session Photography FAQ's

Photography sessions include both time in the studio and time outside (weather permitting).  This type of session is perfect for a family looking for a more natural look and environmental as well as posed images.  Changes of outfits are allowed, and we will do multiple poses and backgrounds.  There is no time limit for this type of session, but they usually run from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.  Photographs can be viewed and ordered after the session, either in person or on a password-protected website.  The session investment varies based on location for travel sessions, number of people needing to be photographed, and what kind of session you are looking for. Please contact me (Jennifer at 315-244-5220 or mccluskey.photography@gmail.com ) for further information.  I can also travel for on-location portrait sessions.

I have a small studio at 4 Pleasant Street in Canton, but when the weather cooperates I love to do outdoor photographs of you and your family.  I also can meet your family at your home or other location.  Travel less than 30 minutes from Canton, NY is included.

While it is great to wear clothing that reflects your personality, Jennifer also recommends solid neutral colors.  Patterns, plaids, and overly bright colors can take attention away from your face and the children’s great smiles.  I recommend that families email me photographs of their outfits and discuss with me the wall colors in the room where the portrait will be hung so that we can coordinate the color scheme for the session.  If you are not sure, you are welcome to bring several outfits to the session and we can choose between them for the best look.

It is recommended to book your family session at least 2 weeks in advance, as times fill up quickly especially in the summer and fall.  I usually schedule family sessions on weekday evenings during the summer and fall.   This lets me take advantage of the great natural light in the evening. Occasional weekend sessions are available in the summer and fall whenever I don’t have a wedding scheduled.  As it starts getting dark earlier in the winter, I switch sessions to the weekends (usually Saturday or Sunday afternoons).

Pricing for business, corporate, and architecture sessions are usually decided on a client-by-client basis.  On-location sessions usually range from $300-$600 which includes the photography time as well as high resolution digital images and a copyright release.  Photographer Jennifer McCluskey is available for travel throughout the North Country.   In-studio head shots including digital images and copyright release are available for both individuals and groups. Jennifer usually needs at least 2 weeks notice to schedule a business session during workday hours, although evening and weekend times are more flexible.

Reunion photographs can include either an hourly rate which will come with high resolution files, or may be based on attendee print orders. There may be mileage rates for travel events.

For groups such as Pee Wee Sports, Catholic Church First Communion or Confirmation photographer may be able to provide photographs at no charge to the organization of groups, individuals, or other posed-type portraits of children.  Families will be able to order their portraits for a fee at the event.  For active events, such as sports tournaments, photographer will charge an hourly rate due to sports games and other activities providing a lower volume of orders per time commitment for photographer.  Jennifer sometimes also provides photographic services for charities and other non-profits.  Please contact her for more details and availability.
